2025 Season
Katelin Talbert is a powerhouse goalkeeper who brings a fearless style, international experience and a championship mindset to Calgary Wild FC. Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Talbert began her soccer journey at just four years old, quickly falling in love with the game.
Talbert starred collegiately in NCAA Division II at Cal Poly Humboldt (formerly Humboldt State University), where she balanced elite-level goalkeeping with academic excellence. She earned multiple All-Conference honours while completing a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Conservation and Management. During her college years, she also competed with California Storm in the WPSL, where she was named Pac North WPSL Defensive Player of the Year.
Following college, Talbert pursued professional opportunities overseas. Her career has since spanned multiple countries and top competitions, including stints with FH in Iceland, SL Benfica in Portugal, and clubs in England and Sweden – West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Djurgårdens IF. Along the way, she captured multiple major honour with Benfica, including two Campeonato Nacional Feminino titles, the Taça da Liga Feminina, and the Supertaça Feminina, was named Best Goalkeeper of Portugal’s Liga BPI for the 2021-22 season as voted by the Players Union, and competed on the UEFA Champions League stage.
Did You Know… Talbert is known for her fearless, athletic goalkeeping style, earning her the nickname “Swag Goalie” … She is a passionate advocate for mental health initiatives, wildlife conservation, environmental protection, and empowering women in sport … Talbert’s path demonstrates the possibility to play professionally from a smaller program and that it’s the journey that matters if you dream big and work relentlessly, no path is unlikely. She says that all you need is to believe in yourself and surround yourself with a strong support system.
