Jaclyn Sawicki

Jaclyn Sawicki (Jackie) is an accomplished midfielder who started playing soccer at seven years old. But dancing was originally Jackie’s activity of choice at six years old before she began playing soccer. For eight years she did both soccer and dance before she ultimately decided to quit dance to pursue a career on the pitch. Once she chose to pursue soccer, she ended up playing at the University of Victoria.

Throughout her career at the University of Victoria she was in and out of the U20 Canadian National Team and achieved her first international cap with the seniors when she was 18. During that time, she got a taste of what it was like to be a professional and she wanted it even more after university.

Jacki’s mother played an instrumental role in her development as an athlete. Her mother had a modest humble upbringing in the Philippines before immigrating to Canada where she became the first person in her family to finish university. Jacki credits her mom for not only introducing her to soccer but keeping her in the sport. Some of Jackie’s career highlights are winning a Canada Games gold medal, competing at the 2012 U20 FIFA World Cup held in Japan, competing in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand, winning a bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Games, AFF Championship golf medal, and being an A-League grand finalist with Western FC in their inaugural season. 

Did You Know… Jackie’s favourite soccer memory is when she was singing the Philippine National anthem for the first time at the FIFA World Cup against Switzerland…When Jackie is not playing soccer, she enjoys getting some extra recovery in like cold plunging/sauna sessions, spending quality time with her loved ones, and trying out a new café.
