TORONTO— Jorian Baucom struck early while Sarah Keilty-Dilling stood tall under sustained pressure as Calgary Wild FC earned a milestone 1-0 victory over AFC Toronto on Sunday at BMO Field, securing the club’s first win over the Toronto squad.

Forward Jorian Baucom scored just five minutes into the match, and Calgary’s defense held firm against relentless pressure from the home side to secure the clean sheet. The result gives Alberta’s only professional women’s sports team points in eight of its last nine matches, with just one game remaining in the season.

“We are so focused on ourselves. We went into the start of the week believing we could come in here and make history. The players and the staff achieved that, so I am extremely pleased with the result,” said Leah Blayney, head coach, Calgary Wild FC.

Toronto controlled 64 per cent of possession and registered 27 shots, including seven on target, but Calgary goalkeeper Sarah Keilty-Dilling turned aside every attempt to preserve the lead.

“We talk about Calgary having grit and grace, and there were moments today where you saw that grit like Jenaya coming on late in the game. She put her body on the line, slides and blocked a shot. That’s the mentality piece. There are moments when you have to stick together and show that grit. That’s what you are going to see out of the Calgary Wild in those moments. We are going to battle. We changed formats three times in that second half, just to disrupt, making sure we are defensively sound in terms of protecting that central area.”

Making her seventh consecutive start between the posts, the 33-year-old Keilty-Dilling delivered another standout performance in a match that became a goalkeepers’ duel.

“That was a massive result for us. It was a huge team win the way the girls defended and got in front of shots was insane today,” said Keilty-Dilling, who has had back-to-back clean sheets. “I’m just so proud of the group. It was huge team clean sheet today.”

At the other end, Calgary made its opportunity count. Baucom pounced on a rebound off an AFC Toronto defender and fired the ball into the corner of the net for the decisive goal early in the match.

The Wild finished with four shots on target, with Baucom’s early strike proving to be the difference.

“JB (Jorian) has a super mentality. She has a high ceiling. She believes in herself and we believe she will improve week in and week out,” added Blayney.

The victory marks another milestone in Calgary’s late-season turnaround under head coach Leah Blayney and assistant coach Kory Babington, who joined the Club mid-season. Since their arrival, the coaching staff has made key adjustments to the lineup and tactics, helping the Wild earn more points than any other team in the league since August.

Calgary and Toronto played to a 0-0 draw in September. It was the first time AFC Toronto had not beat Calgary outright.

“We are just taking each week as it comes, and keeping this winning mentality that we have,” said Blayney.

The Wild will close out their 2026 season, October 25, when they travel to Swangard Stadium to face Vancouver Rise FC.
