Strength & Conditioning Coach

Position Summary

The Strength & Conditioning Coach is a key contributor to the Football Department, focusing on gym based training and return-to-play (RTP) programming. This role will lead team gym sessions, design  strength and conditioning programs, and oversee on-pitch work for RTP players. The position does not  require regular travel with the team, except when covering for the Player Performance Coach (PPC).  Collaboration with medical staff and coaches is essential to ensure safe and effective progression for  players returning from injury. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Gym Leadership
  • Plan and lead team gym sessions, ensuring progressive and soccer-specific strength  development. 
Program Design
  • Develop and implement strength and conditioning programs tailored to individual and team  needs. 
Return-to-play Focus
  • Lead on-pitch conditioning and reintegration sessions for RTP players in collaboration with  medical staff. 
Monitoring & Reporting
  • Track player progress, training loads, and wellness data for RTP athletes.
  • Work closely with Athletic Trainers and medical staff to adapt programs for injured or  rehabilitating players
Education & Compliance
  • Provide guidance to players on strength, conditioning, and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to club and league protocols for player health and safety.
Ad Hoc Duties
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic environment.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field. • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with elite-level athletes (collegiate, professional,  Olympic).
  • CPR certification in Basic Life Support.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in extreme weather conditions. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • CSCS or equivalent strength and conditioning certification.
  • Experience with RTP programming and soccer-specific conditioning.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain confidentiality.
